Your legal obligations as a landlord or property manager in sa
Dyno Electric is qualified to supply, install and test your smoke alarms. In South Australia, the installation and testing of smoke alarms are governed by both State and Federal legislation.
A Landlord who does not comply with the relevant legislation is guilty of an offence. Property managers and Landlords alike should be aware of their legal requirements concerning smoke alarm inspection.
Compliance is an easy process, and in most cases, just a simple battery change away.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES / RISKS
Your Responsibilities / Risks
In South Australia, it is mandatory to install safety switches in all new domestic premises and in buildings where electrical circuits are altered or added.
Safety switches protect against injuries caused by electricity.
Many of the fatalities caused by electricity could have been prevented by installing a safety switch. Safety switches may not protect many older homes.
Failure to take the proper precautions to protect the safety of yourself or others in your home may result in the dismissal of insurance claims for damage, personal injury or loss of life.
As licensed electricians, Dyno Electric can also test your property’s safety switches in accordance with Australian Standards while we’re on site testing your smoke alarms.
Failure to comply with the Building Code of Australia and Australian Standards may result in a $750 fine.
How Our System Works
How Our System Works
Each year, an automated alert is sent to the manager requesting updated details for site contacts, as well as to confirm that the property still requires our attendance.
Once scheduled, one of our team will attend the site and complete the asset testing.
To keep the whole process as simple as possible, we don’t require any contracts to be signed. We only ask for the initial request to be made in writing (email or post), stating the desire to add the property to the annual inspection program.
The requests can be mailed to our office or emailed to smokealarm@dynoelectric.com.au.
